About this Silver Fir
Other names: European silver fir
Standing out among the many conifers around it, you can’t help but be impressed by the size and vigour of this silver fir. The large upright cones, that disintegrate on the tree, are usually clearly visible in the uppermost branches.
Fir honey is a traditional product of the mountain regions of southern Europe where this fir grows. The sugary secretions of aphids feeding on fir sap produce a dark distinctive honey that can only be produced during periods of dry weather.
