Dr David Harris, Taxonomic Researcher in African Plants

I am a taxonomist working on the plants of central Africa. I am geographically focused on the Sangha Trinational which is a series of national parks across the borders of Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), Cameroon and the Central African Republic.

Taxonomically I am working with Alejandro Quintinar at the  Real Jardín Botánico Madrid and with the World Flora Online the relevant Taxonomic Expert Group (TEN) to revise the Putranjivaceae of the world.

Ecologically I am working with colleagues on the different forest types of the Sangha Trinational using a range of datasets from herbarium specimens, remote sensing and permanent monitoring plots.

I am interested in the functional groups that sometimes get forgotten so I pay attention to herbs, hemi-epiphytes and lianas as well as people and trees in the forests of the Sangha Trinational.
