Celia Aceae, Conifer Safe Sites Manager

Celia Aceae is a botanist with the International Conifer Conservation Programme (ICCP) at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. She manages over 300 ex-situ conservation sites for rare and threatened conifers, working closely with site holders to distribute trees, monitor collections, and promote conifer education. Her role focuses on connecting people with conservation through practical stewardship and public engagement.

Celia’s career and love of conifers began in Canada, where she worked as a Park Ranger fostering public appreciation for nature. With a background in horticulture and experience in tea research and development, she later completed an MSc in the Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants at RBGE. In addition to her role at RBGE, Celia is a long-standing Horticulture Consultant for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Montreal, where she regularly shares plant knowledge on CBC Let’s Go and CBC Radio Noon.
