My artwork expresses my wonder and love of the natural world.

The Irish countryside is the spark for my creativity. I am an eternal student, a firm believer in lifelong learning.

I originally was a science graduate back in my youth, but have always drawn and painted throughout my life. I studied at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin as a mature student and graduated in 2016 with first class honours in Fine Art Print.

But it was taking part in the Botanical and Floral Exhibition Bloom 2017 that I discovered the incredible world of botanical illustration. I became a member of the Irish Society of Botanical Artists in 2018, and so began my next learning journey in the skills and challenges of botanical art—and that journey is still ongoing.

Title of the project

Plant Based Remedies For Menopausal Symptoms

About the project

The use of herbs and plant-based cures predates any surviving written records that we have. For example, in ancient Ireland it was believed that there were 365 parts of the body, and that a different wild herb existed to cure the ills of each part.

Menopause is a major life event in a woman’s life. There are many botanicals and supplements that can help support the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that take place during this phase of life.

This hormonal transition is primarily due to the decline of the hormone oestrogen, which naturally decreases with aging. This can result in a variety of symptoms that can make day-to-day life difficult and unpleasant—such symptoms as hot flashes, anxiety, poor sleep, depression, memory difficulties, and headaches, to name a few.

I have chosen to illustrate five very diverse, complex, and beautiful plants that all have the potential to relieve some of these really awful symptoms.
