Title of the project

British native wetland plants

About the project

Extending her interest in wetland habitats after studying Alnus glutinosa for the native tree module, the project naturally evolved to depict native flowering plants found in similar environments.

The varying heights and forms of the species posed a rewarding compositional challenge, while also highlighting the diversity within these ecosystems—some plants more familiar, others overlooked.

Presenting each specimen as a ‘plant portrait’ was a deliberate compositional choice, encouraging the viewer to truly observe the defining features of each species, from bud to seed head.
