Science Management
I am a biodiversity scientist with a particular interest in understanding and conserving plant diversity. As Director of Science and Deputy Keeper I am responsible for managing a team of ca 100 staff, students and volunteers in the science division at RBGE.
My role encompasses strategic planning, leading and overseeing RBGE’s research to combat the biodiversity and climate crises in Scotland and globally, growing grant income, enhancing equity, inclusion and access, and working with external partners to deliver impact.
I am Deputy Director of Science at RBGE, responsible for the Preserved Collections, which include our Herbarium, Library and Archives.
My role at RBGE involves managing and coordinating research grant applications, awards and contracts; working to strategically develop our grant portfolio and income; and developing and implementing processes and policies to support this growth.
