Conservation Prioritisation

Our research supports the documentation of global environmental change affecting genetic, species through to ecosystem diversity, enabling prioritisation of actions to minimise extinction, biodiversity loss and the degradation of ecosystems and the services they provide. This cross-cutting activity is coordinated across RBGE Departments, and we work closely with partner institutes and among practitioners and policymakers globally.

In Scotland, we worked closely with NatureScot and a range of other stakeholders to develop Scotland's Plant Biodiversity Strategy and Delivery Framework. This aligns work to protect and restore plants in Scotland with international actions through the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, and national action to deliver the Scottish Biodiversity Strategy. The Scottish Plant Biodiversity Strategy and Delivery Framework can be viewed and downloaded here.
