Dr Andy Griffiths, CMEP Researcher

I joined the Centre for Middle Eastern Plants in 2025 and my focus is on developing and managing field programmes within the region. I am an experienced field biologist with expertise in botany, survey design, field data management, conservation, and leading international research expeditions. Beyond field skills, I engage with ecological and evolutionary data analysis and have a broad interest in understanding mountain ecosystems.

Prior to joining CMEP, I completed a PhD in Plant Evolutionary Ecology at the University of Edinburgh, held positions coordinating sampling for biodiversity genomics projects such as the Darwin Tree of Life and Biodiversity Genomics Europe, and worked as a Ranger in the Scottish Highlands.
