This online session will share and demonstrate practical tips for growing and propagating a variety of common plants. It’s designed to help you build pupils’ appreciation of plants and make aspects of courses more relevant to their lives and learning. There will be an emphasis on techniques, reliable results, and activities you can use easily with learners!
Using accessible materials, we will explore plant selection, straightforward processes, and tips for getting your plants to grow.

As Environmental Science assignments are marked scientifically, but often taught by geographers, therefore we are offering this professional learning opportunity to provide impactful strategies to help you guide your learners through these assessments.
This online session offers practical advice for how to plan and lead scientific investigations and fieldwork with learners. This will include planning variables and how these lead through aims, methods, tables, graphs, conclusions and evaluations.
For Secondary educators who teach Environmental Science, particularly those from a non-science background.

Join us at the Botanics to upskill your plant science techniques and support the delivery of various levels of biology courses. Explore sampling and plant ID as well as the fascinating world of plant adaptation and co-evolution with Botanics staff from the education team. Then join sessions in the teaching lab with SSERC-led workshops on photosynthesis, use of gas sensors and microscopy visualisation workshops!
This programme is intended to equip biology teaching staff with the skills to confidently deliver a range of practical experiences both inside and outside of a laboratory.
