Meet the Teams
Edinburgh Biomes
-
Edinburgh Biomes is a once-in-a-generation project for the Horticulturists and project teams working to save ageing buildings and protect our Living Collection.
Their skills, expertise and ingenuity will help to deliver this incredibly complex, landmark project.
Our Glasshouse Horticulture team
How do you safely return an eight-metre-tall palm to its Palm House home?
With construction work complete, this is just one of many challenges facing our resourceful Horticulture team as they prepare to plant around 600 botanical specimens back in the historic structures.
During the entire Edinburgh Biomes project, our horticulturists will move around 40,000 plants into safe, temporary homes.
Our Biomes project team
The Biomes project team is responsible for Biomes strategy and governance, financial planning and the overall running of the complex programme of projects.
They worked closely with our main contractor, Balfour Beatty, to deliver the stunning renovation of our 19th century Palm Houses and have now begun the next stage of the development – the construction of a new, efficient energy centre in the Garden’s Nursery site.
Together, these teams are shaping the future of the Botanics, discover more stories from Edinburgh Biomes.
