Restoring the Palm Houses
Watch our June 2024 update
-
Restoration of the Palm Houses began in September 2022. Now, in June 2024, incredible progress has been made.
The ironwork in the former Tropical Palm House has been fully restored, allowing new, toughened glass to be installed and the ‘crown’ reinstated. Meanwhile, in the iconic Temperate Palm House, elaborate stone cornices have been replaced.
The Edinburgh Biomes project will protect global plant science and conservation through the restoration of the Palm Houses, ensuring the future of these A-listed historic structures and the precious plants that they house.
