Leonie Paterson, archivist at RBGE, will talk about what we can learn from the archives about the movement to collect, clean and dry sphagnum moss in the U.K. so that it could be used as field dressings during WW1. The Garden has a collection of papers and correspondence relating to the subject, and recently a photograph album showing the collecting process near Beattock was donated by the family of Adam Forman, who organised moss-gathering there.
