Seaweed Specimens for Art and Science

Learn how seaweeds are preserved on paper for long-term scientific study by making your own specimen using the standard techniques. The delicate nature of seaweeds requires them to be floated onto paper. Careful composition can create specimens of great beauty, something which is reflected in the preserved collections of the Garden’s Herbarium. Clare Scanlan will introduce the science and art of seaweed mounting. There will be an opportunity for a private viewing of Tidal Records, a seaweed-themed exhibit by Cooking Sections in the Botanic Cottage.

There is a limited capacity for this event, please book online before you arrive. Tickets are £10 per person
