Frederick Dennis Rhind Belford
(1924-2010)Edinburgh born Biology teacher, educated at George Heriot’s School.Taught at Lasswade High, George Heriot’s, Musselburgh Grammar, Liberton High and also worked at SSERC.Dennis was a Member of the Linnean Society through his interest in single lens microscopes.Pastimes included Scottish Country and Folk Dancing (received an MBE 1987 from the Queen) and also golfing, drawing, watercolour painting, mending clocks, bird watching, gardening, gold panning, creating jewellery and filming.He enjoyed the music of Mozart, Schubert, Beethoven, Hayden and G&S Operettas.His enthusiasm and magnetic personality endeared him to all and is sorely missed.
