- We are investigating the impact of global environmental change on biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Our work aims to inform strategic conservation efforts and wise land use planning
We study the impacts of environmental change on biodiversity. Our research ranges from macro-scale analyses of land use change to studying how warming influences plant phenology.
We integrate diverse data sources, including field surveys, remote sensing, GIS and spatial modelling.
Land use change: We are mapping land use change and its impacts on biodiversity. Our work aims to reduce economic and environmental risks by identifying where land conversions may be economically unsustainable and result in the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services
Our Tanzania programme aims to enhance understanding of how community forest management to deliver dual benefits - supporting both forest conservation and local livelihoods
Phenology: RBGE runs a phenology programme to study the impact of warming on flowering, leafing and fruit development in plants.
