A Harvest Festival with fun for all the family is being held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) this weekend to celebrate the end of the growing year.

The free event, organised by RBGE’s Edible Gardening Project, will have experts on hand to give advice about growing and harvesting fruit and vegetables, and visitors will be able to see produce grown in the Botanics’ plots in the Demonstration Garden. Other highlights of the afternoon will include a family scavenger hunt and live music including the ever-popular Barrow Band.

Community Engagement Manager, Amy Leach explained: “The Harvest Festival is a traditional celebration of a successful growing year for fruit and vegetables. We want to share our harvest experience with visitors, encourage them to grow their own produce and make sure everyone who comes along has some fun.’’

She added: “The Edible Gardening project is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and it is as a result of their funding that we are able to continue and grow our community outreach.’’

The Harvest Festival will be held in the Demonstration Garden from 12 noon to 4pm on Sunday, 19 September.
