Royal Society honours Professor Li De-Zhu

Many congratulations to Professor Li De-Zhu OBE FRSE from the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Kunming Institute of Botany for being elected as a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Professor Li is a world leading expert in Plant Biodiversity Science and has collaborated with botanists in Scotland for more than 30 years. Among his many achievements, Prof Li founded China’s Germplasm Bank of Wild Species (the largest facility for wild species conservation in Asia), he leads the China Plant Barcode of Life Group (uniting 40 research groups from 19 institutions in the use of DNA to study plant species diversity), and has promoted public education on biodiversity and environmental issues in universities, high schools and kindergartens in China. This prestigious election as a Corresponding Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh recognises his many scientific and conservation achievements and his leadership and support for international scientific collaboration.
