Botanical Treasures in Director's Choice
-
Simon Milne, MBE Regius Keeper at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) has been picked as the first director of a natural history collection to be featured in the Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers “Director’s Choice” book series. In his book Simon discusses his favourite places, objects and landmarks in the four Garden sites within RBGE. With a mix of beautiful photographs and illustrations accompanying his words the 80-page book looks at some of the aspects of each of the Garden sites that make them so unique and important. Simon’s choices in the book range from Australian tree ferns at Logan to a map of the Edinburgh Garden from 1830. Simon manages to keep the book incredibly personal whilst also reinforcing how necessary the conservation and preservation work RBGE focuses on is to protecting natural habitats not just in Scotland but across the globe.
