John & Jan McLaughlin

John Arthur McLaughlin BA, ALA (1945-2009) & Mrs Janet McLaughlin ALA (1947-2008) John was born in Donegal, Ireland. He met Jan, from Kirriemuir, at the Mitchell Library where they both worked. They married in 1969 & had two daughters, Carol & Gillian. They lived & worked in Glasgow & West Dunbartonshire for most of their married life. In 2000 they retired to Dunoon & loved life there. Jan was a committee member of the Cowal Archeological & Heritage Society & volunteered at the hospice & museum. John continued his longtime hobbies of running & walking. He also researched & wrote “One Green Hill: Journeys through Irish Songs” which was published in 2003. They became grandparents to Isla in 2004. Jan & John were the most wonderful parents & grandparents. They are deeply missed.
