A rare opportunity has arisen to climb one of Dawyck’s most-loved trees. Dawyck Botanic Garden has become the latest on a long list to open its gates to the Wild Tree Adventures team and give visitors the chance to explore the garden from an all new height.

On Saturday 13 July Dawyck Botanic Garden is working with the Wild Tree Adventure team giving participants the opportunity to climb a huge Douglas fir tree that was planted in the Garden in 1835. With tree climbing events at stunning locations across Scotland this one promises to be a real treat! The event is open for anyone between the ages of 6-60 and over, and having previous tree climbing experience is not necessary. There will be a range of sessions throughout the day and all of the correct safety equipment will be provided.

It is one of the first Douglas firs to be planted in the UK from seed gathered by the early seed hunters like the amazing David Douglas, after whom it is named.”
