Relatively dreich weather on Sunday, June 3 failed to dampen the spirits of participants turning up for the first Sensory Walk at Dawyck Botanic Garden, near Peebles.

Led by volunteer guide Inga Stewart, the walk was designed as part of an initiative to encourage people of all ages and abilities to engage with nature. Those who braved the weather were rewarded by close encounters of touch, sound and smell as they stopped at different species along the way.

The intention is for Sensory Walks to become a regular feature of Dawyck’s seasonal timetable. Anyone who missed the first one will have an opportunity to join another later in the year.
