A Connoisseur's Masterclass

    We are delighted to welcome the current president of the European Tea Growers Association, Monica Griesbaum, to deliver this programme - which has been especially created for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

    Join us at the Botanics this summer for an immersive 5-day herbology experience, dedicated to the amazingly rich and aromatic world of fine teas!

    During this series of highly specialized study days, you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about the beautiful evergreen plant, Camellia sinensis, and discover how this intrinsically precious botanical is grown as a crop in plantations as far reaching as the Himalaya, Japan, Africa and Europe - including Scotland.

    Each day affords the opportunity to sample a bespoke selection of not only artisan teas, but rare, fine estate teas from around the globe, that are not readily available elsewhere. You will also hear from the people who grow these unique and highly sought-after teas, as they share some of the fascinating techniques used to prepare them.

    The nurture of tea seedlings, harvesting and tea processing, are all covered in intricate detail, and all of the materials needed to enjoy each of the practical sessions are provided at no extra cost.

    Upon completion of this highly specialized programme of studies you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from RBGE.

    *Please note that this course is intended for those with an existing foundation of knowledge in the subject (or RBGE Herbology postgraduate equivalent), seeking to take their learning to the next level professionally.
