Florilegium: A gathering of flowers
Friday 16 October - Sunday 13 December 2020
Open daily from 10.30am, Inverleith House.
New and existing works by contemporary artists Lee Mingwei, Annalee Davis, Wendy McMurdo and Lyndsay Mann join over 40 established botanical illustrators such as Mieko Ishikawa, Dianne Sutherland and Sansanee Deekrajang in Florilegium: A gathering of flowers, at Inverleith House, in the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
Botanical artists from all over the world present detailed studies of plants, revealing how flowers can elicit cultural, historic, geographic, socio-political and scientific ideas, and inviting visitors to explore the rich diversity of RBGE’s extensive Living Collection.
The biennial exhibition is the first of a new programme as Inverleith House begins its transformation into Climate House, following the award of Outset Contemporary Art Fund’s Transformative Grant.
Free entry. Please book your time slot to enter the Garden.
Last admission to the exhibition is 4.15pm in October and 2.45pm November - December.

Lee Mingwei, Invitation for Dawn
16 November - 11 December 2020
‘I see my works also in this way: sharing the gift of song, the gift of contemplation or the gift of exchange with a stranger’. – Lee Mingwei
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh warmly invites you to participate virtually in this artwork, from Monday 16 November to Friday 11 December 2020. Online performances every 15 minutes, 4 - 6pm, Monday - Friday.
Earlier this year, in response to the coronavirus pandemic and rescheduling of his solo exhibition at Gropius Bau, Berlin, Lee Mingwei created Invitation for Dawn, a new online performance. Drawing on Lee’s live artwork Sonic Blossom, which explores the concept of giving and receiving something as immaterial and intimate as song within an exhibition, Invitation for Dawn introduces classically trained opera singers to audience members digitally. Performing a cappella, the singer gifts a song to their guest – a close exchange from afar. Each singer has selected three songs, which they feel express an ‘invitation for dawn’ and hope within our global crisis.
To receive your gift of a song – live via video call – please send an email to email@example.com with your preferred date.
