Edinburgh Science Festival
Science Festival at the Botanics
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Edinburgh Science Festival was CANCELLED.
As well as celebrating our 350th anniversary, our 2020 Science Festival programme addresses some of the biggest global challenges. From exploring, conserving and explaining the diversity of plants to using all of the resources of our planet sustainably.
Whether it is plastic waste or the impact of food production on climate and nature, we want to get people thinking about personal actions that contribute to securing the future of life on the pale blue dot we call home – Earth.
Younger visitors can join the Botanics Bunny on a self-led Easter Trail around the Garden. The rubbish puppets also need your help to clean up the mess when Earth gets too stinky in our family show Planet Pong and the Stinky Song.
The ‘Think Plastic: Materials and Making exhibition, open during Science Festival, encourages us to reconsider our relationship with this incredible, but potentially environmentally polluting, material. Look out for the series of talks, workshops and shows linked to the exhibition:
- Talks: Think Plastic (12+); One Bin to Rule Them All (12+)
- Workshops: Amazing Plastic (10+); Shred and Melt (10+); Found and Woven (12+)
- Shows: Planet Pong and the Stinky Song (4+)
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh welcomes all visitors and aims to provide the best possible access to everyone in order that they enjoy their visit to our Garden. Click here for access details.
The Edinburgh Science Festival runs from 4 to 19 April 2020.
