Mr David Knott (1961)
My earliest memories of the Botanics are from the early 1960s as, having been born in nearby Comely Bank and living in a flat, I was pushed round the garden in a pram to get me to sleep and seemingly looking at the trees helped! After our family moved away from Edinburgh, we were still regular visitors when visiting grandparents and as I started to pursue horticulture as a career. It was fantastic to visit and see rare and unusual plants that were accurately labelled!
