About this Roblé
Other names: Roble (Spanish)
This mature tree has reached an impressive girth and has developed attractive flaked bark. It originates from seed collected from within the natural range of the roble beech in Chile and Argentina in 1926, giving it value for research and conservation work.
This species has been trialled for use as a commercial forestry tree in Britain. The most promising results have come from trees grown from seed collected in the south of the natural range as they have proved to be frost hardy.
