Gardens closed temporarily
Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and our three Regional Gardens, Benmore, Dawyck and Logan, are temporarily closed in response to the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
We are sorry to close the Gardens but the health and safety of staff, students, visitors and volunteers is our top priority. This decision is in line with advice from the Scottish Government and supports Scotland’s effort to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
The closure of the Gardens and offices has required a shift in the way we work. Only a small number of horticulture staff are on site to tend to our world-leading collection of plants. As guardians of Scotland’s National Botanic Collection, they are doing a fantastic job under difficult circumstances.
We are doing all we can to maintain our higher education programme by teaching students online. Our scientists are also working remotely, continuing their vital research on how best to conserve biodiversity in the face of large-scale environmental change.
Unfortunately, all events, exhibitions and short courses at the Gardens are currently suspended. We will update our What’s On and Learn sections with further details when that changes.
While you can't visit our Gardens right now, we will share the seasonal highlights from each of our Four Gardens and stories from our collections and projects across our digital channels. If you would like to receive monthly emails to lift your spirits, then sign up to receive email updates. Even better, become a Friend and support our work at rbge.org.uk/support us.
Thank you for your continued support during this period of uncertainty. We will continue to review the situation on a daily basis and post updates on this page. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Gardens as soon as we can.
