Rainforest: From Science to Art

Using the Garden’s Tropical Rainforest Glasshouse collection this CPD aims to update your own factual knowledge of the characteristics and problems facing this incredible ecosystem.  Material from the collection will then be used to inspire a variety of art and craft activities which can be used back in the classroom.

Biodiversity and Inheritance

A practical and fun look at biodiversity,  investigating how it develops through mechanics of inheritance: Modelling activities we will consider the ‘hidden link’ between biodiversity and inheritance,  learning the basics of how genes are passed through generations and the importance of inheritance mechanisms, adaptation and natural selection on producing biodiversity and sustaining life and a future for humanity.

Bubble-ology

This series of imaginative experiments with soap bubbles introduces important concepts of science, technology and maths through the enjoyable exploration of bubble shapes, buoyancy, surface tension and iridescence. Have fun, get messy and learn together with bubbles! For all ages.

Supermarket Science

This practical course uses products from supermarket shelves to give a treasury of easy-to-use ideas for the classroom that enable pupils to have fun whilst conducting experiments in many aspects of science.  Making connections between the food they eat and its origins, planting seeds, composting, eco-systems, recycling and other topical issues can all be explored with these simple activities using easily obtainable and affordable resources- straight from your local supermarket!
