Arts & Crafts from the Garden – Autumn/Winter

These two workshops introduce a wealth of simple and fun art and craft activities that are suitable for early years using gathered seasonal materials from the environment. These activities help children see and feel and understand the natural world around them just a little better, and begin to realise that nature is exciting, and that everything in it is important and special.

Literacy and Nature

Inspired by the John Muir Trust and ‘The Lost Words’ resources we will use different techniques to encourage creative writing. The aim of the session is to stimulate thinking and give practical experience that helps develop literacy skills in the outdoors.

Rainforest: From Science to Art

Using the Garden’s Tropical Rainforest Glasshouse collection this CPD aims to update your own factual knowledge of the characteristics and problems facing this incredible ecosystem.  Material from the collection will then be used to inspire a variety of art and craft activities which can be used back in the classroom.
