The education Summer School offers many of our popular weekly courses in a block format, which means they can make the most of all the Garden has to offer at this time of year. Summer School courses are ideal for those coming from further afield or those who want to spend some focussed time learning a new skill.

Expressive Colour - Mixing for the Watercolour Landscape

How does colour affect the mood of a painting, or give a sense of space and light? David Forster will explore a key colour range on each of five days, allowing students to bring greater expression to their work. Price includes lunch.

Introduction to Horticulture

This one-week course looks at skills and good practice in horticulture; from soil science to plant anatomy and propagation. The course is suitable for absolute beginners, or as a stepping stone to the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture.

Tie dyeing and batik have appeared in China for more than 2000 years. In this 4-day course, students will learn the basic techniques of doing tie dyeing and batik and finally can make fabrics with their own design.
