Friends of RBGE Photography Competition 2018

The 2018 Photography Competition is now open for entries. This year we are introducing new categories to open up the competition to a wider audience and encourage photographers to submit their best images of plants, landscapes and the natural environment. In addition to the main categories below we are running a monthly promotion on Instagram at #RBGEphotocomp to showcase some of the amazing images taken by visitors to our four Gardens in Edinburgh, Benmore, Dawyck and Logan.

The competition is open for entries until 31 October 2018. All funds raised will be used to support the Garden's world class research and conservation work.

The Prizes

The overall winner will win a cash prize of £1000.  They will also receive a canvas print of their photograph and a voucher for a photography workshop, courtesy of Jessops.

Each category winner will receive a cash prize of £250 and a canvas print of their photograph from Jessops.

All shortlisted and winning photographs will be displayed in the photography exhibition at RBGE in 2019 and will feature in a 2020 calendar published by RBGE.  All winning photographs will be published in the Botanics magazine.

Visitors to the exhibition in 2019 will have the opportunity to cast their own vote for their favourite photograph. The winner of the People's Choice will be announced at the end of the exhibition and will receive a cash prize of £500.
