The competition is organised by the Friends of RBGE in association with The Scotsman and entry fees go to support the work of RBGE.

The Friends of RBGE are delighted to announce the winners of the 2012 Photography Competition

The judges, everyone in the Membership Office and the RBGE Friends Committee, who organised and ran the competition, would like to thank everyone who entered the competition this year as it has been a phenomenal success raising far in excess of £1,000 to go towards projects across the Gardens. In addition, the entries this year were of an exceptionally high standard, so congratulations to everyone who participated.

The winning photographs have already appeared in the Scotsman newspaper and can be viewed on the website here

The four winning photographs and the three second placed photographs will also appear in the Autumn edition of the Botanics magazine which is delivered free to Members of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. This will include the three winning pictures in each category and the overall winning photograph by Mikuni Uehara, pictured here.

Professor Stephen Blackmore, Regius Keeper at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh will present the winners with their prizes at an award ceremony which will be followed by a lecture from Lynsey Wilson, the RBGE's resident photographer.

All of the winning and highly commended photographs will appear in an exhibition at the RBGE which will be found in the Library Foyer at 20A Inverleith Row throughout September. There are also plans for the exhibition to travel to our regional gardens at Dawyck, Logan and Benmore in subsequent months.
