The Friends of the RBGE are delighted to announce that the 2013 Photography Competition will run from March 2013 to the end of August 2013. Check the website for further details.

Members' Day Visit to Benmore

There will be a coach to Benmore from Edinburgh, lunch at an excellent garden cafe and a Benmore Explorer bus running to the top of the Garden.

Dawyck Dawn Chorus

What better way to start the day than at the crack of dawn to the beautiful sounds of bird song? You'll hear a wide variety of woodland birds and could also tune into some more unusual species such as Blackcap, Woodcock, Redstart and Nuthatch.

Coffee Morning: Extreme Botany - Surveying Oman's Highest Mountains

Sabina Knees has spent 8 years working in Oman: in conservation, on the Flora of Arabia and in developing Oman Botanic Garden. She is now surveying the summits of the Hajar Mountains in the north. Hear Sabina talk about this new project.

Garden Opening

A large established Arts and Crafts style garden incorporating woodlands, herbaceous and shrub borders. Early June will bring shows of rhododendrons, poppies and iris.

Garden Open Day for Friends of RBGE Dawyck Botanic Garden

This is a beautiful woodland garden with steep slopes and steps. Not suitable for those with mobility issues. Teas are offered. Booking is essential and time slots must be adhered to as parking is very limited.

Solstice Yoga Sunday

A yoga session of about an hour, taking part outside in the gardens, weather permitting. If the weather is unsuitable, the yoga will take place in the Visitors' Centre. Yoga is followed by breakfast provided by the resident cafe.

Member's Day Trip to Birkhall

We are delighted to announce that the Friends of RBGE are hosting a members-only visit to Birkhall, the private residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in Scotland. Tickets cost £50 and booking forms are available from the Membership Office.

Members' Tour: Gardens around Constable Country

We will be based near Colchester and will visit gardens in the area including Beth Chatto's famous garden. We will spend an afternoon at Flatford Mill, the National Trust Property dedicated to Constable.

Garden Opening

An attractive, well designed garden featuring a delightful pond and statuary with a collection of unusual ferns and herbaceous plants. There will also be coffee, biscuits and a plant stall.
