Esther will discuss the roles of different species in our cities, our attitudes towards them and ways in which we can enhance our appreciation and knowledge of even the most 'ordinary' of creatures.

Sir John will be giving a talk to end the Leafing Through Natural Scotland Book Festival. Nature writing has enjoyed a renaissance in the last 10 years and is now a thriving and widely read genre. Having studied nature writing in depth in North America and in Britain, using excerpts from his own books John Lister-Kaye will present a fascinating evocation of what nature writing really means.
