A class for botanical painters who have mastered the basic techniques of Beginning Botanical Painting. Students can work at their own pace, taking advantage of the RBGE’s plant collections and facilities, and the expertise of the class tutor.

Ciara Phillips and Nature Printed

The first major exhibition by the Canadian born artist Ciara Phillips (b. 1976, Ottawa) gaining international recognition for her use of printmaking (on paper and fabric) which she uses as her primary medium. Nature Printed is the first exhibition devoted to the Garden’s collection of nature-printed books, which is one of the world’s finest: the exhibition contains plates made by Henry Bradbury (1832-1860) which have recently been conserved by the Garden’s library archive and are being exhibited here for the first time.

Complex Forms - Sharon Tingey

This course will take you on a journey through the drawing of crazy structures such as pine cones, seeds and other complex forms. We will learn to mix beautiful rich browns with reds and ochre’s, layering colours to create real three dimensional forms.
