As a result of recent global conservation assessments of the conifers we now know that 34% of all known conifer species are threatened with extinction. Over a period of 20 years the International Conifer Conservation Programme (ICCP), based at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in Scotland, has developed a range of initiatives to help conserve some of the world’s most threatened conifer species. The talk will discuss some of the major threats to conifers and highlight some of the initiatives in place to help safe guard conifers for the long term future.
