Zingiberaceae is a family of flowering tropical plants, the greatest diversity coming from south east Asia. The gingers include turmeric, cardamom and beautiful ornamentals. It is a core research area at RBGE, led by tropical botanist Mark Newman who will talk about this exotic family.
