The Chinese believe that by surrounding themselves with auspicious images during the Chinese New Year, they increase their chances of a prosperous existence in the new year. Peony, lotus, narcissus, bamboo, pine tree, gold fish and rooster are auspicious images that widely used during the Chinese New Year. This course introduces the painting of these auspicious objects in the garden and explains the meaning behind them. Taught by Suzanne Chong.
