In the morning we will visit Newhall, the home of Mr & Mrs John Kennedy. Here there is a traditional 18th century walled garden with huge herbaceous border, shrubberies, fruit and vegetables as well as a beautiful glen walk along the North Esk River. After lunch we go on to Little Sparta, the garden home of the late poet-artist Ian Hamilton Finlay. Little Sparta is a garden within which natural elements of plants, water, stone and earth have been transformed by the mind and hand of an artist into a place of beauty and excitement.
Some of the paths are quite rough, so strong footwear and a degree of mobility are necessary.
