Enjoy new performances commissioned by the Edinburgh Mela Festival, the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival (in collaboration with Scottish Natural Heritage, Forestry Commission Scotland and the RBGE) to celebrate the inspiration of nature. Enjoy a feast of different events dotted all around the Garden:

THE MUSIC STAGE (next to Temperate Palm House)

1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm, 4.00pm
Jazz & blues musicians from the Stuart Brown/John Hollenbeck Group will perform music inspired by the bird life of Islay. They plan to do some improvisation around the pond near the East Gate between some of their sets.

Saskia and Shubhendra Rao bring the beauty of India and classical music to Edinburgh inspired by the landscapes of South India and by the Esk Valley in Midlothian.

THE DANCE SPACE (grassy area near East Gate pond)
2.30pm, 3.30pm 4.30pm                                                                                                                                                             Jean Edmiston and Rosina Bonsu explore Hidden Sources inspired by the Clyde Valley and helped by the students of Reid Kerr College, Paisley.

THE JOURNEY SPACE (From the Queen Mothers' Memorial Garden to the Beech Hedge)

Bob Pegg and Andy Canon take you on a journey inspired by the West Antonine Wall route from the Forth.

CHINESE PAVILION (Ting and Hillside)

Kim Ho Ip and visual storyteller Ramesh Meyyappan inhabit the Hillside Garden blending influences from China, Singapore and the Scottish Trossachs.

WOODLAND GLADES (in and around Oak Lawn)

John Kenny and Marion Kenny evoke the mysterious Scottish Borders landscape through music, story and the legend of "The Lucken Hare and the Witch of False Hope".

THE GLASSHOUSE LAWN

Scotland's famed Chinese Knotters introduce you to the intricacy and delight of their art. Create your own dragonfly and give a small donation for materials.

Talking Trees, RBGE's own storytellers' group, provide naturally inspired stories from Scotland and beyond.

JOHN HOPE GATEWAY (Real Life Science Studio)

Meet Glow-in-the-Dark Fungi and experience the secret sound of spores with scientist Patrick Hickey and musician Yann Seznec.

THE FAERIE DELL (South of Gateway)
2.00pm-4.00pm
The Flower Faeries are in the woods with some family fun activities - find these elusive creatures and enjoy puppetry, storytelling and games. With Marie-Louise Cochrane and Aileen Findlay from the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Make a Kai - a fish that flies - with Alchemy Arts, and experience nature with art Japanese style.
