'Seasearch' Seaweeds Identification Course

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) are running a 2-day Seasearch Seaweed Identification Course based at Eyemouth, Scotland, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2014. The course is open to divers and non-divers, whatever your existing level of knowledge, and aims to teach the basic biology of seaweeds, key methods of identification and collection techniques.

Papermaking with Plants

The garden is the inspiration for this programme, so we will be using flowers, leaves, seeds, stems and natural dyes from the plants grown both at Edinburgh Botanics and in the artist’s garden to make distinctive and unique papers.

Fern Identification

There are around 70 species of fern and on this one-day workshop you will learn some of the simple skills to identify the most common ones around Edinburgh. You will also learn about their life cycle and useful distinguishing features, and enjoy putting your new knowledge into practice in the Garden.
