Potting Shed Bistro

The Potting Shed Bistro

The award-winning Potting Shed Bistro was Dumfries & Galloway Life's "Cafe of the Year" in 2015. It is open on Sundays in February from 11.00am-3.00pm then daily to Garden visitors between 1 March and 15 November from 10am - 4.30pm(3.30pm in November). The Potting Shed Bistro is an integral part of Scotland’s Most Exotic Garden and played a key part in Logan being awarded the Green Business Tourism Award and 5* rating from Visit Scotland. The Assessor from Visit Scotland said it was the best catering experience he had enjoyed this year. It also played an integral part in Logan Botanic Garden becoming a Regional Finalist in the Scottish Thistle Awards 2016/17 "Best Visitor Attraction" category and reaching the finals of the Scottish Rural Awards in the "Rural Tourism & Hospitality" Category in March 2017.

In 2014, 2015 and 2016, the Bistro was awarded a “Taste our Best” accreditation from Visit Scotland. This was in recognition of not only the Potting Shed’s superb quality food and drink, but the inclusion and promotion of fresh, local Scottish produce on its menu. Fruit, vegetables and salads are sourced locally from suppliers at Port Logan. Mull of Galloway crab and Port Logan lobster are freshly available with other seafood also being delivered by local suppliers. Cheeses, chutneys and preserves are from Galloway Larder with ice cream being delivered by Cream O’ Galloway.  This local fresh produce results in many speciality dishes being served up daily including Mixed Scottish Seafood Salad, Mull of Galloway Crab Salad and Hot Smoked Salmon on rye bread together with a selection of delicious home-baked quiches, salads and sandwiches.

The Bistro provides a wide selection of home baked snacks and light lunches, with an excellent selection of gluten free and vegetarian options available. Soup is a key speciality with at least two options each day, including a gluten free and vegetarian choice. There is a vast array of delicious freshly baked cakes, pies, tarts, scones and cheesecakes, with gluten free options, together with Scottish favourites such as Ecclefechan Tart and shortbread.

The Bistro is ideal for everyone: a place to relax and take in the stunning surroundings of Logan Botanic Garden whilst enjoying home cooked food. It is also family friendly with a children’s menu, play-table and free wif-fi.
