General Questions

 

Q. Can we supply our own catering for Events?

A. No, Prestige Scotland is the contracted caterer for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Q. Can photos be taken around the Garden if we are not having an event?

A. Yes, but a fee would apply. Please contact the Visitor Welcome Team on 0131 248 2909 or VisitorWelcome@rbge.org.uk, or click here for more information.

Q. What time will the bar finish?

A. Our premises are licensed to have events until 12.00am, by then all guests must be departed.

Q. When would we pay a deposit and our final balance?

A. A deposit is required to secure a booking. The final payment is required 14 days prior to your event. We would require credit card details for any extras on the day.

Q. How do we make a booking?

A. We require a deposit. We would send you a Event Agreement and ask you to read through this, sign and return to confirm the event.

Q. Can we supply our own Audio Visual and Entertainment?

A. Yes, but we would require all contact names and details to arrange access on the day of your event.

Q. Can we have a wedding car within the Garden?

A. Yes, but no stretched Limousines. We require the contact name and number for the company to arrange access to the Garden on the day of your event.

Q. Who would be our contact on the day of our event?

A. We have dedicated Event Managers who run our events at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Q. Can we have our wedding outside?

A. You can hold your wedding amidst the Redwood Trees in the John Muir Grove, please refer to wedding package for details. *Seasonal and subject to weather conditions.

Q. Can tours be organised of the Garden during or after our event?

A. Yes, please contact the Visitor Welcome Team initially on 0131 248 2909 or VisitorWelcome@rbge.org.uk The tours are led by the RBGE Garden Guides.

Caledonian Hall

Q. What is the maximum number of people you can have for an event in the Hall?

A. please see listing below

  • Lunch / Dinner with no dance or drinks reception x 90
  •  Lunch / Dinner with dance or a drinks reception x 60 or 90 with a Reception Marquee outside the Caledonian Hall.
  • Wedding Ceremony x 100
  • Standing Drinks reception x 120

The Reception Marquee may only be erected between the months of April and September. Costs are subject to quote, please contact us for further details.

Q. What is the maximum number of delegates that could attend a conference?

A. Theatre Style x 100 delegates, Cabaret Style x 40, Boardroom and U-Shape x 20

Temperate Palm House

Q. Can an event be held within the Palm House?

A. This is not be possible, during the day the Glasshouse's are open to the public and the evenings are for the exclusive use of the RBGE Regus Keeper and the RBGE Public Events Team. 

Q. Can photos be taken during the day in the Palm House as part of a Wedding within the Garden?

A. Again, this would not be possible due to the Glasshouse's being open to the public.

Café Terrace

Q. Can we have events in or by the Terrace?

A. Yes, we do Summer BBQ's and Drinks Receptions. Please contact us for further details.

Q. Can we bring our own summer picnic and have this in the Garden?

A. This is not allowed, refreshments are served in the Terrace Café. Click here for opening times or call 0131 552 0606.

Inverleith House

Q. Can an event be held in Inverleith House?

A. This would not be possible as this is currently an Art Gallery.
