Benmore Botanic Garden is dramatically set within the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park and the Argyll Forest Park, on the A815 seven miles north of Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula.

Coming by car and ferry

Caledonian MacBrayne and Western Ferries both sail car ferries from Gourock to Dunoon. The journey time is approximately 20 minutes.

Getting here by public transport

First ScotRail offers an all-inclusive Benmore Botanic Garden Day Out ticket. This all-inclusive package gives you:

  • return rail travel from any Strathclyde rail station to Gourock
  • return ferry travel on Caledonian MacBrayne ferries from Gourock to Dunoon Pier
  • return bus connection with West Coast Motors from Dunoon Pier to Benmore
  • admission to Benmore Botanic Garden

Tickets are available from any First ScotRail staffed station within Strathclyde, or from First ScotRail Telesales on 08457 55 00 33. Ask for the Benmore Botanic Garden Day Out ticket. Show the outward portion of your rail ticket to board the ferry and bus, and hand it over to the ticket desk at Benmore Botanic Garden.

Ticket costs are: adult £15.30, child £7.65

Cheaper ticketing options may be available to family groups or concessionary travel card holders from certain stations.

Available Mondays to Saturdays only. 

West Coast Motors also offer an all inclusive ticket and operate regular bus services daily to the Garden from Dunoon, Lochgoilhead and Carrick Castle. Call 01369 707701 for further details, or visit their website.
