In the face of ever greater financial challenges, we are increasingly dependent on the generosity of individuals to help us continue and expand our work programmes. Legacies are of enormous value to us, as they can support the full spectrum of our work, from developing and enhancing our four botanic gardens to delivering world-leading research programmes and education initiatives. Because of our charitable status, gifts can be exempt from tax, so a bequest to the Garden can reduce Inheritance Tax.
During February 2013, you will have the opportunity to get a basic will written, or amended, free of charge if you leave a legacy bequest to a participating charity in the ‘Love the arts, Leave to the arts’ campaign, such as the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Visit the Love the arts, Leave to the arts website for a list of participating solicitors.
For more information about legacy giving, please take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions. Our new legacy brochure also offers a flavour of the valuable efforts a gift can support, together with simple steps on how to organise your legacy.
For an example of how legacies have supported RBGE in the past, read A Living Legacy case study.
If you have decided to remember us in you will, we'd be grateful if you would consider completing our online pledge form because knowing in advance about potential bequests considerably helps us to plan our activities.
Thank you for thinking of leaving RBGE a legacy. Your gift, whatever its size, will help us to protect plant life for future generations, and continue to connect people with the natural world.
