Research Project
I am studying the diversification of the Begonia sections Semibegoniella and Casparya in the northern Andes using phylogeographic and phylogenetic reconstruction with molecular data. In particular I am investigating the role of the uplift of the Andes, the closure of the Isthmus of Panama and Pleistocene climatic variations on diversification. I will also produce a taxonomic account of these two sections.
