Herbarium loans

The Herbarium at RBGE issues loans of specimens to recognised institutes only. We have digitised all of our type specimens and many others.  These high quality images allow examination of features at similar magnification to a hand lens or low-power dissecting microscope. They can be viewed and downloaded from the Herbarium Catalogue link on the right.

Since specimens are fragile and may be damaged in transit, our normal procedure in dealing with loan requests is to make digital images available in the first instance.

We would ask that loans are only requested where a visit is not possible and where a digitised image is not suitable. Specimens are normally issued for a period of 12 months.
