With funding from Scottish Natural Heritage the Scottish Plants Project has targeted conservation action on threatened Scottish plants.

Working on a list of nine rare or endangered species the project has carried out:

  • Monitoring of wild populations
  • Training in species identification
  • Cultivation of plants to study life-histories
  • DNA analysis to aid species identification
  • Re-introduction of plants to locations in the wild

Visit the Scottish Plants Project species page to find out more about the species included in the project.

From coast to summit

As well as focussing on rare plants the project has developed a virtual nature trail that introduces common and rare plants found in a variety of Scottish habitats.
