Non-commercial and Commercial filming

Non-commercial filming is regarded as that which will benefit RBGE by publicising the organisation's scientific and horticultural work, education programme and public events, as well as to highlight its status as a leading visitor attraction. Such filming is free of charge and can be arranged through the Press & Marketing Office.

To arrange non-commercial filming, contact the P&M Office with details of the project concerned and any special requirements likely to be requested. Public Liability Licence is required.

As there are strict limitations on the use of vehicles in the Garden, film crews are advised, where possible, to restrict the area of filming or to bring a trolley to transport equipment around the site.

The activity of crews filming in public areas will be monitored by P&M Office staff and also by Garden Rangers. There is a charge for any damage caused to plants, lawns and other fabric. Crews filming in non-public areas must be accompanied at all times so this is, therefore, dependent of staff availability.

The P&M Office must be advised in advance of any requests for direct engagement with members of the public. It is the responsibility of crews to supply personal/parental release forms and to obtain signatures.

Commercial filming can also be arranged, with standard rates by the hour. For more information call 0131 248 1037 or 0131 248 2900.
