Sir George Mathewson is the new Chairman of RBGE's Board of Trustees. The former Chairman of The Royal Bank of Scotland previously headed RBGE's Campaign Board in its successful Gateway fundraising drive.
With extensive experience in board leadership, risk management and strategic development, he also chairs the Council of Economic Advisers, which advises Scotland's First Minister on sustainable economic growth.
Regius Keeper Professor Stephen Blackmore has welcomed the appointment following the death of former Chairman Dr Paul Nicholson: "Sir George's track record in international business and his genuine regard for the Garden ensures us a strong guiding force in an era of rapid environmental change."
